Order Communication Line process diagram
This diagram will guide you through the process for setting up communication lines to interface the BSC Central Systems.
High Grade Line Order
Submit request to ELEXON
Submit a communications line request form. This form contains the technical information we require to place an order with our service provider.
If you have any technical questions relating to the High Grade line that you wish to discuss before placing an order you can contact Market Entry directly. Once we receive the order form, we will confirm the charges associated with the line you have chosen and place an order with the service provider.
How long does the order take?
It is at this point that the 60WD turnaround time to install a line in the UK begins. The time taken to install HG lines in Europe is dependent on the exact location and can be discussed at the point of order.
Submit Technical Details
Once we have received your High Grade order request form, we will send you a prevalidation form.
Submit the prevalidation form. The prevalidation form provides us with the installation information required to raise an order with our service provider.
On this form you can also select the line type you require, for further details on the lines available and the associated charges please refer to the Schedule of specified communications charges for international and non standard line request charges will be quoted on application. Agree T&Cs
Once we have received your completed prevalidation form we will send you details of the associated charges.
What do I need to do?
If you are happy with the quote, respond to the email instructing us to progress your order with our service provider. If you are not happy with your quote please contact Market Entry ([email protected]).
Agree Installation Date
Our service provider will make arrangements to have your line installed and tested. Once they have an installation date available they will contact you directly to discuss.
Installation and Acceptance Tests
Once the line has been installed our service provider will carry out acceptance testing to ensure the line is working.
Once the acceptance testing is complete ELEXON will start invoicing you on a monthly basis for your new high grade line.
Low Grade Order
Submit Request to ELEXON
Submit a communications line request form.
If you have any technical questions relating to the Low Grade line that you wish to discuss before placing an order you can contact Market Entry ([email protected]). Once we receive the order form we will place an order with our service provider.
How long does the order take?
Once we receive the order we will usually process the request in no more than 5 WDs.
Install XSec Software
XSec is security software that will be provided to you when ordering the High or Low grade Communication Line.
What do I need to do?
Shortly after placing the order you will receive an email from our service provider. This email will provide instruction on how to download XSec encryption software. Follow the instructions in the email.

Create Encrytion Keys
Follow the instructions in the email you will have received from our service provider to generate and submit your XSec keys. If you require any technical help please contact the ( BSC Service Desk ).
